Delivery Communication - what to expect.....

So I have a question for the group. I ordered my R1T Gen 2 TriMax at the end of September and paid my $3K deposit - it said delivery was October-November on my Rivian web page. Now we are in December and I have not heard anything from Rivian since I placed my order - is that normal? I am not necessarily in a hurry but just interested to know how the communication flow will occur and how much lead time for delivery once the truck is ready as I need to plan to get rid of my current vehicle. Should i contact Rivian CS to find out where my truck stands in the production line? Thanks

Rivian is notoriously bad at communication and providing accurate timelines - yes this is normal :)

"Things happen" at Rivian's end. Chances are they haven't forgotten you.

Reach out to Rivian if you're not hearing about your status in a timely way.

I would call sales- it just so happened the sales person identified a vehicle going into production and tagged it to my order, “expediting” my delivery.

I ordered beginning of October and heard nothing for a month. Eventually I found a near-identical config on the shop, and <48hr after putting a deposit down on that, the purchase process began and I was texted by a delivery specialist. All the while my $3k pre-order sat at "Config confirme, Oct-Nov."

It took a week of hounding to cancel the original pre-order and get my $3k non-refundable deposit refunded, but the delivery specialist was able to help with that.
