Does anyone REALLY know why surround sound distortion comes and goes?

Got into my R1S this morning and all music sources were suffering from the well documented distortion, so I switched surround sound off. Left it parked for a few hours and was about to do a soft reset when I thought ... let's just make sure it's still happening. And it was not - surround sound back to normal. No distortion at all. I would LOVE to know if anyone has a definitive reason why this can come and go like that. Hopefully a permanent fix will arrive soon via an update.

The release notes for the next release 2023.38 include a fix:
“Reduced likelihood of distorted audio coming from overhead speakers.”
Perhaps this will address the distortion.

Rivian Service asked me confirm if I could isolate the area of distortion in my vehicle and specifically was trying to determine if it was the headliner mounted drivers or the door driver. My issue is a rattle and seems to come from the door but we’ll get this update before my appointment to test.

Fir me me it’s definitely a software issue. Goes away if surround turned off. Looking forward to the update.
