This is a good solution and taking a lot of personal responsibility. Kudos! ?.

Why do we seem to have to resort to impersonal and indirect solutions to a problem (i.e., making the engine make noise) instead of people driving more carefully and responsibly when pedestrians are around, and taking more personal responsibility. It applies the same way to pedestrians - can pedestrians simply be more careful and mindful of the situation and possible limitations when on foot. If these are not feasible solutions, that is probably the real problem (and dilemna)... not a quiet engine.
Why are some people so oblivious to the variety of problems at hand? There are no miracles to cure blindness. More responsible children? Good luck with that (there's a better chance of curing blindness). And accidents? Well, let's just not have them (heck, vehicles would be far lighter and cheaper if we didn't have to bother with crumple zones, a reinforced passenger cell, airbags, seat belts, the horn you seem so fond of, etc). People certainly can and should be more careful and more responsible but it still won't eliminate pedestrian injuries/fatalities so we need to do more. Sorry if that chafes your sensibilities.

It's amazing the number of randos that come up in here and resurrect this thread with brilliant solutions like "blind people just need to look left and right"

kinda hoping @Administrator might consider locking this thread. At the very least it's run its course.
