I recently noticed a few electric trailers newly on the market, or coming soon. It seems that with the reduced range towing creates, towing a trailer with its own batteries that could supplement the truck's batteries - and also power the trailer while in camp - will be a winning and popular idea in the future. Also, would be great to not have a loud generator running while camping :)

I found a few listed below (only one seems actually available) - wondering if anyone knows of any others?
I wouldn't be surprised if Rivian comes up with their own version too - seems perfectly suited to their brand - but they may not have the bandwidth for something like that for a long time.

I'd rather Rivian focus on vehicles (R1T/R1S/RXNext/even potential e-bike) rather than camper trailers at this point. Not sure Ford/GM/Volkswagen/Mercedes/BMW/Jeep/Ram/Honda/Nissan/Toyota ever felt the need to release or even design a trailer.

The Colorado Teardrops Boulder with 75kWh at $45K seems "fairly" priced and has options to upgrade with air-con and solar, etc.
I wonder what Airstream will ask for their eStream with 80kWh and self-driving; $200K?
Expensive business this "roughing it."

It’s probably not fair to compare the airstream to the others, but eventually if the majority of vehicles on the road are BEVs, I could see a time when all trailers have supplemental battery to increase range for the tow vehicle. The airstream goes one step further and actively assists in the towing to preserve the tow vehicles range. It also apparently can creep out everyone in sight by driving itself into your campground spot without being attached to your truck….

If we ever get to that point, it would make sense for all BEVs worthy of towing to have charging ports in front and back to remain connected to that trailer power. It might not be enough to double your range AND allow you to live off grid for a week, but on a trailer you might be able to include enough solar panels to slowly recharge those batteries again.

Interesting times we live in!:movember:
