Not intending to Rant but has anyone else been experiencing reliability issues going into year 2 or 3? I have 42000km on on a 2023 R1T quad motor. At around 36000. A regular service 500km later 12v replacement message. 37500km 12v battery changed in driveway. 37800 km the vehicle entered limp mode with 12v errpr pulled over did a few hard resets and it's bricked. Battery Isolation Box (BIB) failed. No heat no access to compartments to retrieve jacket. There is a way to open frunk you just a torx bit and a long arm. Subjected to 5 hours of beeping. 3 days later truck is returned. Next road trip experiencing charging issues then it started beeping again this time due to cooling system issues. Again it beeped all day as I made my way from Edmonton to the Calgary service center. Im concerned that if one wire broke how many more will and when. Has anyone had harness issues with wires rotting? The connector was replaced but I'm not very confident I'll get to where I need to in time. I know this is supposed to be a place for people who love their trucks, but I'm wondering if these are signs of future issues? My biggest issue is the constant beeping. Has anyone ever been able disable the beeping in service mode or another creative way?

No reliability issues on my 23’ R1S. I had my 12v battery replaced proactively.

I had what sounds like a similar BIB issue early on but it was repaired and no other problems since. No clue on the beeping. Only time I've heard that is when trying to drive with my gear tunnel door open so it's been appreciated.

I have a 22 R1T with 56,000 miles and have not had any reliability issues since my first 6 months. Just had the recommended brake service and comprehensive inspection and all was good. I do have one annoying brake squeak for the first couple of minutes I drive and engage brakes. I have had that on other EVs and solved it by relubricating the brake parts to free them up. Brake pads are all still in very good shape. Expect to get over 100k miles on them.

36k miles on my 23 R1T. It was in last August for the infamous AC condensation making a wet floor mat issue, and last week for replacement of the front half shafts, ting washers, and the rear suspension recall. Once that was done, I'm now out on a 1900 mile road trip. Love the truck!

It is the same topic and by the same author but I see that the OP took the feedback from the other thread and posted here to try and explain the situation and get answers. I don't know enough about the way these forums work to know if it's possible to "reset" a thread to reframe the discussion. Good of OP to listen to the feedback and explain the challenges they are facing to see if others have experienced it. I am really hopeful this BIB problem is not something like Hyundai's issues with their ICCU that are impacting thousands of vehicles.

It's not so much blind loyalty as they're sick of people coming in as a new account intending to start drama with click bait titles and screen names, then continuing be a problem after people have legitimately tried to help.
One can take the high road, move on from it, and be a productive contributing member that helps the community, or they can take the low road, name call, instigate more drama, and make their own lives that much less enjoyable... if they aren't a genuine troll feeding of the anger.

We bought two Gen 1 Rivians in 2023 (R1T, R1S) - both have been relatively problem free and the best EVs in their class (some initial niggling issues that service fixed).

Third Rivian, this time a Gen 2 R1S- breaks down every few weeks (complete shutdown - unfortunately every time on a highway with little to no warning - all the errors start buzzing almost simultaneously, shutting it down before you can get to the edge even with the practice I have had on immediately responding after the first couple of times) - this is somewhat similar to OP issues - 12V battery replaced four times in 5 months, In addition they found a HV leak and resulting harness damage.. replaced HV battery and damaged harness. but the frequent shutdowns means the R1S is unusable without dread - resetting while on the middle of a highway with traffic whizzing by when the hazards light shut off as the truck restarts is downright dangerous and scary.

Despite the great experience with the Gen 1s, the chance of getting a problem ridden Rivian like our third Rivian gives us pause re: R2 or the gen 3 R1.

Posts like that of the OPs are very helpful so as to know the worst case scenarios of a Rivian ownership so that each can evaluate the risk appetite. In our case, the family is reluctant to drive a Rivian as they do not want to deal with such scary stoppages on the highway.

BTW, service has been great in getting us in and out. that has been the redeeming feature. of these experiences.

OP - ask the service to check for a HV battery leak and if so to check for the harness damage. replacing the damaged harness and HV battery takes a few days mostly due to parts shipping time to service center.

I will definitely ask to have that checked out tomorrow as they are replacing a seal under warranty for one of the rear wheels. Thank you for your reply. It is greatly appreciated. I hope they can offer a solution that lessen your apprehension to operate it. I feel the same way. Ive started to give myself an extra day of travel incase the unit bricks itself again which is frustrating.
