Got the Thule parts in (Fixpoint kit 187139, Evo fixpoint, evo squarebars 60") and have been adapting my legacy Yakima kayak setup (two sets of J-saddles, two sets of old Mako Saddles/Hully Rollers in the middle) for the R1T. I'm a little bummed that the Thule towers are just clunky enough—by literally an inch on a side—that my four-boat setup doesn't work like it did with the Yakima towers I had on my Volvo, but three boats are fine whilst my eldest is away.
(FWIW, I dug out my old Yakima kayak stackers later that day and those, paired with the Js, work just fine with four!)
So much nicer loading the boats with the benefit of the open bed and the gear tunnel steps to stand on: no more need to have a stool handy, or a child precariously on the roof arranging straps. Also, plenty of space in the bed for wet gear that you can just hose down and sort later.
Efficiency was 2.03 (ouch!) over a 70 mile trip, vs the usual 2.5, but that was mostly expected.
