There were no Florida locations on the list of initial venues for test driving, and my email inquiry about Florida test drives has also gone unanswered for several weeks now. I have a feeling Florida is not going to be one of the priority points for first deliveries.

I wouldn't go that far...They only listed the first 4 or 5 locations. They were hiring for Demo Specialist in Miami and those positions are all filled. They are coming. Just not as fast as we would like...

I hope you're right. My Tesla extended warranty just expired, and it's not a car I want to keep outside of warranty. I was planning to trade it against the Lucid or the Rivian, whichever arrives first (as I'm an early reservation holder for both). Just hope I don't have another battery pack failure meanwhile . . . .

Florida is Lucid's second-biggest market behind California based on reservations, but that doesn't appear to be the case with Rivian. Even though Rivian will probably start R1S deliveries before Lucid begins Dream Edition deliveries, I'm guessing I might actually see the Lucid first here in Florida.

I have a feeling this is also true. The southeast is Ford country and I don't think there are many Rivian pre orders in Florida or the Southeast for that matter. Look at it this way, Florida's economy and housing is booming and has been the least effected during the Covid pandemic. Rivian no doubt could have had unlimited test drives here in Florida and could have setup shop here and used Florida as a marketing base ground. But there was nothing. They have not even stepped foot here in Florida or the Southeast. I was extremely hopeful about taking delivery of my truck (that I ordered in 2018) this summer but I am now beginning to lose hope as they are not fulfilling orders based on reservation but based on location. I get that they want to have service setup in areas they are delivering to but there is no reason why Florida or the southeast should not be ahead in this department compared to other states that have been shutdown and heavily restricted. I have also noticed a serious drop off in information they are releasing since they announced Guide contacts.... they know people are tired of waiting and they can't keep tip toeing around with bullshit answers to serious questions anymore. The only thing keeping me from canceling my order right now are my daughters are in love with this truck. It would break their heart if I bought something else. But even they are getting tired of waiting......

Why would they have 3 service/delivery centers in Florida if they didn't have a huge pre-order following here? Orlando, Tampa, and Miami.

Also, up until COVID ruined 2020, Miami was going to be a location for a pre-order event.

They were in ATL in the summer of 2019. My wife went to that event.

Would you want to take a test drive in a vehicle that was still having changes made? Would you want to see vehicles whose colors weren't finalized? Talk about disappointment...You would be pretty upset and so would your girls.

They are coming. You have to be patient. At least being in Winter Park you are a ton closer to Orlando than I am up in Jax.

I‘ve been having the same thoughts. I’m a mid 2020 order, so even further down the line. I don’t think that Florida will be disregarded for long. We have a large and diverse demographic.

Although it hurt to spend 1k for a place in line, that money is “out of sight and out of mind“ now. I will absolutely wait this out and take delivery. If I keep the truck, that’s TBD. At this point my emotional investment is larger than my financial.

Where is that service center located at in Orlando? I would love to take a test drive!!! when can we make that happen? Oh yeah, Soon! Its not unusual to test drive a certain model car and buy one in a different color or one with different trim options. In fact it would just fire me up even more to buy one. The only thing disappointing at this time is Rivian's continuous strategy of over promising and underdelivering!

It is on the corner of OBT and Semoran Blvd right across from the Wawa.

Florida also has one of the highest EV adoption rates in the U.S. outside of California, coupled with one of the highest registration rates of SUV's as a percentage of vehicle types registered.

Lucid, which is opening its Design Studios based on where it's getting reservations, opened its first two studios outside of California in Florida (in Miami and West Palm Beach), even before their studios in Chicago and New York City.

Florida is also one of the 20 states that impose no restrictions on car companies' selling their vehicles online for local delivery. Naples (where I live) and Miami (which I often visit) are crawling with Teslas. It's not uncommon to see three Teslas at a stoplight, and last weekend there were 23 Teslas at or waiting for a charger spot at the Plantation supercharger.

Yet we didn't even make the initial list of venues for Rivian test drives, much less service centers.

Where are you getting this "intel"? Miami, Tampa, and Orlando are all on the list for either Service, Delivery, or both. As for the Test Drive locations, they have only announced the first 6 or 7 locations...why does EVERYONE feel like they are skipping Florida. If you go to the Careers page, you would see/have seen that they were hiring for the Demo positions in Miami.

It's true that Miami was on the list of nine locations for which Event Manager jobs were posted, but what I wrote was that Florida was not on the "initial" list for actual test drives. According to a "Slash Gear" article from May 28, no Florida venue was among the list of initial test drive locations. https://www.slashgear.com/rivian-te...r1t-electric-pickup-without-dealers-28675036/

The article wrote:

"Initially, the [test drive] Tour will be visiting Los Angeles, San Francisco, New York, Chicago, Detroit, and Seattle, Rivian says. More locations are set to be added to that list in due course."

After this article came out, I contacted Rivian via email to ask when Florida would be scheduled for test drives, and I got no response.

While Miami is on the list of 41 service centers that Rivian will eventually open, I can find no indication that any Florida location will be among the first round of openings. I would certainly welcome information to the contrary.

R1T was spotted today 07/25/2021 in Miami, FL exiting SR836 onto 42nd Ave southbound to be exact, it had the lidar on the roof. Not sure what they were doing in this area, but hope more to come to FL soon
