I successfully paired my R1S with my Linear garage door opener. It works most of the time as expected. But every so often when I press the button to open the garage door, the garage door starts to open and then stops after moving 6-12 inches. If I press it again, it continues to do that start/stop action for four or five more times and then returns to normal operation. It's almost as if it sends the garage door signal and then sends it again very quickly, starting and then stopping the door.

Has anyone else experienced this? Or does anyone have any theories on why this might be happening?

Do you notice any difference whether you use the button on the steering wheel versus the soft button on the main screen? I’m just wondering whether you’re getting a double finger bounce input off of the one you’re using. Try the other technique and see if it makes a difference.

I'll give that a try, but I have been very careful to do a quick short press on the steering wheel button and then let go. Maybe the button itself is faulty and causing a double-click?

I tried the solution of using the controls from the screen rather than the button on the steering wheel, and it did it again. So it's not likely the button being pressed multiple times. Next I'll try using the regular garage door opener for a few days and see if that triggers the issue. That should help isolate whether the garage door or the Rivian is the problem.

FWIW, I've had that same issue on both R1Ts I've had. Never figured out a fix.

I finally stopped using it and just use the old school visor clip-on clicker.

Interesting. You're the first person other than me who I've heard having this issue. I'll let you know what I find out. Do you also have a Linear garage door opener?

We have Genie openers. The on screen/scroll wheel opener only works about 1/2 the time in general. It’s a lot of me sitting in my driveway and pushing both. Ha. I was stubborn about using it, but finally just gave up altogether.
