Stuck here at the car wash with my 3 year old.
I’ve been going to this car wash since I got the truck back in May. They know to put it car wash mode. This time they buckled the driver’s belt. Not sure if they have done that before. Key fob on the center console. Now the truck is locked. It’s still in car wash mode, in neural, and key inside. My app thinks the car is in use so I can’t unlock it that way. I called Rivian, they attempted a remote unlock and nothing. They tell me manually pull the door handle should deactivate car wash mode and unlock. It does not.
car wash employees tell me every other electric manufacturer you need to put the seat belt on in order to keep it in neutral. I get that Rivian does not need that, but as all the other cars do, car washes do it by habit. Don’t design the software to lock the vehicle. The leads
I spoke to at Rivian we’re unsure if its the belt.
So here I am waiting for someone to come and use a balloon to wedge the door open enough to unlock.
This is on top of just getting it back from service. It took 3 months to get it into the SC (unrelated small issues that piled up). After getting it back I went to valet it and the key cards don’t work now. Rivian remotely diagnosed it as something wrong with the module. They tell me my phone and key fob will still function until they can address the module next month. But since then my phone will only unlock the truck 25% of the time. The rest I have to use the app and stand next to the truck for at least a minute.
I do love the truck, and understand it’s software. But being told a squeaky suspension is normal, a tailgate being crooked is normal, not being able to replicate that my drivers window switch only works half the time to just getting the truck back to have a slew of new issues has me bummed.
Now I’m going to let my 3 year old watch videos on my phone as we wait.
