Just a quick comment on this.

There are 3 components to your vehicle inside temperature due to heat transfer:

1) Radiation
2) Convection
3) Conduction

The glass roof has 100% UV blocking (per Rivian) but not visible light, and by far the best thing you can do is to get a windshield sun shade while parked. Roof sun shade clearly helps but the windshield is the biggest radiation heat source if parked. If driving, its problematic and it is what it is.

Your vehicle exterior color has a huge impact on inside temperature as heat conducts from hot to cold. If you have a dark color (black, green, red, charcoal), versus light color (white, silver, light gray), it can make 10s of degrees difference on the interior temperature.

The last is convection. By cracking the window by just a half inch on all four windows will ventilate the hot interior air out and bring in cooler exterior air in to regulate temperature better. In a parked vehicle, the interior is ALWAYS hotter than the outside ambient temperature, even in the recored heat condition (e.g., inside = 140 deg, outside = 105 deg).

Just use overheat protection with AC and turn on the climate control couple of minutes before you return to the vehicle, including the seat cooler.
The over temp prott and auto climate control is still a desired feature for rivians… unless i missed that. I tried using dog mode but burns too much energy I thought.

It took me multiple purchases to find the right one for my R1S. Complications included poor fitment, loose material when mounted, or difficultly keeping the screen attached. Many did not meet my expectations until I found one.

EVBase R1S Sunshade (Front & Rear)

The large sun shade fits perfectly. The screen is tight and retains a factory-like look. There is no seams that have light leaking through and no loose edges. Same with the rear. For the front shade, you’ll need a trim removal tool to open up the head liner so it snaps in place. It takes a bit to get it in there but it’s all worth it. Highly recommend and it also allows some light through which is a nice touch.

Has anyone tried this on a 2026 R1S?

Just do a forum search for "EV Base Sunshade". Makes zero difference whether it's used on a MY26 or any other. No change in roof dimensions.
I reckon that that is my question. whether or not theres a size difference in 2026 from the others.

A better, but more expensive option is to install TWraps sunroof PPF that blocks UV/IR. It installs on the outside, so that effectively shuts down the sunroof tint stuff I keep seeing floating around (doesn't cause an issue, but who am I gonna convince?). I have TWraps sunroof ppf and it allows me to have the natural light without the heat.

Side effect, it adds another layer of protection to your very expensive roof glass in case of stone or dropping something when loading up the roof bars.

FYI, IR radiation is the heat source. Not UV.
