Just thought I'd share my experience driving from Calgary to Vancouver via Kamloops. Highway assist is not available from the top of descent into Field BC until Kamloops. So about 426 km without assist. It also disables as you approach the wildlife bridges, crossing roads or worn out lane markings.
Consumption was 234 kWh (4.17 km/kWh, 973 km).
I would like to try the comma 3X/Open Pilot next time on that trip.

A follow up on my last Calgary Vancouver trip with the comma 3X/Open Pilot this week.
I was able to keep it engaged for the whole drive. Really made the trip more relaxing.
I like it better than Tesla autopilot or FSD on the highway. Would highly recommend it to anyone who does longer road trips.

I pick up my 2024 R1T this coming Monday. Hoping that the autosteer function (is it called Highway Assist?) works around much of the south coast area and Vancouver Island; I use it in my Tesla regularly, but I gather the Rivian version is not so capable

Enjoy your new ride! I don’t use the feature much, but the major highways have it and it was handy coming back from Penticton (on the Coq) last week. Personally, I don’t use it when there’s traffic, just when it’s easy coasting on open highways.

I can’t remember if I was using it on the island or not?

thanks, I'm a bit anxious with the various issues I read about on this forum (12v battery tending and failure, half shaft and dampener failures (especially when vehicle goes out of warranty), service wait times, etc.), but the folks I have personally spoken to who own seem to be having good experiences

Yeah, take it all with a huge grain of salt. I’m about 27 months in and still LOVE driving it. Best vehicle I’ve ever had. I’ve only had a couple of very minor issues (cosmetic really) and the SC took care of things really well. There are definitely issues out there, but way less common than the forum would lead you to believe.

This forum has been great (especially the early days) for tidbits to keep things smooth and operating costs down (my biggest one - I don’t use conserve unless I REALLY need it - will wear down the tires much faster - electrons are cheaper than rubber).

Enjoy the experience! And definitely use the forum to throw out questions if they arise :)
