We've had our R1T for 21 months, without any issue until now. A couple weeks ago, the hood didn't open all the way. I hit the button to close it again, and all was fine until this last Saturday, 9/27. When we got in to go home and turned the truck on, there was a "Hood Latch Error" that came and went repeatedly, and the truck honked a few times. I tried to open the hood, but it opened about 1/3 of the way. I closed it, and we went home. I tried again when we got home, and it opened around 1/3 of the way. Opening the hood caused the windshield wipers to actuate. I tried to close the hood, but it wouldn't latch all the way. This also actuated the wipers. I tried to open and close the hood a few times, and finally it closed, and seemed to latch. I tried the wipers manually, and they would not respond. I called Rivian, and the lady I spoke with was very nice. She had me try all the different resets. The one with the hazard light button got the wipers to work, but nothing fixed the hood, and trying the hood continued to break the wipers. So, she got me scheduled for an appointment at the Denver service center. At first she said the first "urgent" appointment was October 22nd, three weeks away! But then she said she would try to get me in on Monday 9/29, as inoperable wipers are a hazard. It seems like a hood that won't latch should also count, but I didn't argue.

The next day I tried to drive it and the hood came open, and the truck threw the same error, along with a new one saying the inside escape button (I forget the exact wording) wasn't working. Or maybe it was not latched when I thought it was. Regardless, I took it back home and got the other car.

So, I took the truck down to the service center for my appointment. I avoided the highway, as I didn't want the hood to open at highway speeds. The gentleman who checked me in said he hoped to have it done by the end of the week. As of today I hadn't heard anything, so I messaged them in the app. They responded saying that it's still in line to be looked at as they are short-staffed.

I've read some of the service center stories, and I know I shouldn't expect anything quick. It annoys me that the guy who checked me in wasn't upfront about it though. I realize it's only Wednesday, but is there any hope of me getting the truck back this week? Am I going to be waiting until October 22nd? Longer? Has anyone had a recent experience with the Denver service center that could shed some light?

I had the same thought, but they were already "proactively" replaced last December. I was also watching for that error specifically and did not see it. It still wouldn't surprise me though.

After dropping the truck off at the service center on Monday, they finally got around to looking at it Thursday evening. Less than a half hour after that message, I got another message saying they had found a loose ground connection, tightened it, and were going to run tests overnight to ensure everything was fixed. It was good to go the next day, but I wasn't around to pick it up, so it had to sit there for a bit. I now have the truck back, and all seems well.
