I periodically make a trip of about 125 miles each way and there is a convenient RAN charger in a diner's parking lot about halfway, so I usually stop there to "top off" my battery. On my way back, however it's very inconvenient to stop there, even though I'm told to do so. As I get closer to home, I always directed to other chargers, even though I have enough charge to make it home. I don't want to reduce my "buffer", now about 20 miles, because for other trips, chargers may not be plentiful enough.

If the charger is not in the maps, then you need to use the 'prepare for fast charging'(or something similar) button under the charge screen and manually set the destination.

How do I manually set the destination? Can I simply say "home" (home is on my navigation list)? You would think there would be a setting that there is a level 2 charger at home, since I can navigate to home (without specifying where home is).

Have you adjusted your Preferred Arrival Range so it won't prompt for a charge before getting home? On the Nav screen, select the gear icon and move the slider in Trip Preferences. You can also toggle on/off your preferred networks. Hopefully that will get you home without it trying to navigate to a charger if you know that you'll make it home.

If you navigate home you can reduce the buffer for only that trip as opposed to it being the default. If you have a trip running it will ask when you change the buffer if it is only for this trip (at least it used to, have not done it in awhile).
