Sat in the vehicle and sent myself text messages until I understood what was happening. The volume on Rivian assistant voice is plenty loud but the notification on receiving the text is so soft I can barely hear it. I was looking in the wrong place for the visual notification, I see it now on the bottom left of the driver screen. Disappears pretty quick. Anyway, thanks for the help.
I have Android phone. Was working and then stopped. What fixed it for me, is to toggle i.e turn off then turn on again the "sync message" on the car's bluetooth settings for my phone. Accessed by touching the 3 dots next to your phone's name on the car's Bluetooth menu.
