I was on a 12 mile trip to my friends house yesterday with the route mapped. As I got close I happened to see that my SOC was way down to 12%! Within a mile of my friend's house is a Tesla Supercharger location. With less than a half mile to my friend's house the route REALLY wanted me to go to the charger. Added it to the route and everything. Would have been more helpful it the car had reminded me that my SOC was under 20% the day before. Somehow I completely failed to notice.

What are you asking for here? It wanted you to go to a charger because that’s probably what you have set in the Nav.

Just delete the charge stop if you really needed directions to your friends house

I set NO charge in the nav. the only reason I was using the nav was to predict my arrival time.

The point was that the nav wanted to FORCE me to charge. I only set the destination to get the arrival time prediction. I found the car wanting me to charge quite odd as I had 11% and was only a half mile from my destination.

No one's trying to FORCE you to charge. You were navigating, and your vehicle was tracking your energy usage and noticed that you were going to arrive with less than the SoC that you have specified. So it gave you a solution that would allow you to arrive with more than your preferred minimum charge. You are the one that set that minimum charge (the default is 20%, but it sounds like you reset it to 10%). There is nothing wrong, odd, or sinister happening here. If you wanted to arrive with 0% you could have set that in the to preferences and your vehicle would happily let you drive straight there without SUGGESTING a charger.

Probably a good thing for many drivers even if a bit annoying to you this time.
Even admittedly not knowing the vehicle was below 20%. Consider it a second reminder.

OK at that point to turn the NAV off.

Interesting. Actually, my preferred arrival state of charge is 30% AND I used the nav three days prior when I started at 30% and ended at 28% and it had nothing to say about that. Curious.
