I built a simple calculator to show how much you can save by driving an EV compared to a gas car over a month, a year, and even five years. I kept it intentionally straightforward, using just five inputs: gas price, electricity cost, miles per gallon, and the cost of both home and public charging per kWh. There’s also a slider to adjust your annual mileage.
I’m offering it for free so EV owners can easily demonstrate the real savings of going electric. I may add more features down the road, but getting this version out was already quite a journey—learning how to design an app in Xcode and navigate Apple’s submission process.
Hope you enjoy it!

It’s called Howard’s EV Calculator.

What about insurance premiums?
My insurance wasn't anymore than my Navigator, in fact it was the same and my Navigator was 3 years older 🤷‍♂️
Worth adding though for those that do experience it and yes, yearly registration fees is stupid high for some people. +$200 for me

And don’t forget those pesky EV add-on yearly registration and tax fees.
That's true but those numbers are always in a state of flux. There are many pluses and minuses in the calculations. Some things like faster tire wear with an EV and ICE need oil changes. Also ICE needs smog checks and EV none. If you charge at home you never have to wait at Costco to gas up and touch that stinky nozzle. The 600 lb. gorilla in the room is the cost to run any vehicle and the purchase cost or lease and sale or residual in the end.

In CA is about $1,000 reg.for a $100,000 purchase price because of a Transportation Improvement Fee for cars over 60K and New Mexico is just $56

In Kansas as an example same year Bronco is about $350 a year for registration while Mach-e is about $750, includes about $165 "gas tax". Mach-e insurance is about $60 more per month. Very similar MSRP.

So agree some very good savings, especially if have solar, buy used, etc. Always need to ensure people have all info when thinking about the changeover if on fence.
