Is an R1S a "truck"?

If it is a body-on-frame then yes, it is a truck. Essentially if the Truck and SUV have the same frame, then the SUV is a truck. I.e. Tahoe, Suburban, Expedition, AND R1S.

This has always been my perspective. If the vehicle shares the frame/chassis/foundation as a open bed truck, then it's just an enclosed version of that same vehicle.
60s - Ford Bronco --> Half Bed Bronco
70/80s - C10 Pickup --> Blazer
90s+ - Silverado --> Suburban/Tahoe, F150-->Expedition
Rivian R1T --> Rivian R1S

They are all trucks.

I’d say more than a truck. My F150 I sold before I bought this couldn’t keep all this covered up and out of the weather, while with my son behind me in the second row. IKEA can test the limits. I’ve also strapped 4x8 sheets of plywood to the roof racks. R1S is quite capable if you ask me.

R1S = Body on frame construction = Truck (same as Tahoe, Wrangler, etc)
Most SUVS = Unibody = Crossover (Model Y/X, Blazer, etc.)
Unibody with glued on panels masquerading as an exoskeleton = Cybertruck

Some SUVs are also referred to as trucks regularly because it is body on frame like a truck is.

This is sort of an existential question. I work in the construction industry and my vehicles end up being utilitarian. I didn't think of it until today when someone asked if they could throw something in my truck. I guess with the suspension and the AT tires, it looks more like a truck than most SUV's...

At least they didn't call it a mom-mobile or short bus.
