Main battery dead. Anyone know a good lemon law layer

Rivian is extremely transparent when it comes to Hawaii deliveries. They let you know, up front, that you will be responsible for transportation costs to the Service Center on Oahu if it is needed. They also informed you that wait times for service will be longer than on the mainland. You acknowledged this before taking delivery. That’s not a ”get out of jail free card” or some dirty trick pulled on you by Rivian.

All that Rivian owes you is to get the HV battery fixed or swapped with an exact replacement, and transportation (rental or Uber credits) while your car is out of service. This does not even come close to lemon law status, and no upgrades are due to you for your troubles. Sorry.

this is not good advice. If you have a legit lemon law case then the lemon law lawyer will take your case on and you don’t pay anything. They collect from the manufacturer. They are experts at this and it would be silly for someone to do this on their own when they can have an actual lawyer, do it for free

So, live on big island. Tech out here yesterday diagnosed the main battery needing replacement. Just got a call from Matt at the oahu service center. They will not do replacement here so vehicle needs sent to oahu. Said I have to pay for the barge round trip.

Anyone know a good lemon law lawyer?

April 21 update. Vehicle has been at Oahu service center since April 2nd after sitting in our driveway for almost a month. First was 12v battery, mobile tech came and troubleshot to main battery controller so whole pack needs replaced. They replaced that early last week. Update today, still not working and service center getting Rivian engineering involved.

While it may be taking longer than you want and that does really suck, there doesn't seem to be any Lemon Law issue here. They are attempting to repair and you agreed when you bought the truck to pay for the barge because you live on an Island.

I hope they get it repaired quickly for you.

First repair attempt was March 12. Second attempt at the service center has been ongoing since April 2nd.

Per Hawaii lemon law "the car was subject to examination or repair for one or more nonconformities for a total of 30 or more business days."

I'm not a lawyer but that seems pretty cut and dry. Still hoping it gets fixed.
