Managed to successfully cast IPTV to display screen

It uses tvh for the Shedules Direct integration. The main benefit for me is the failover. If a channel stream fails, it'll fail over to another stream for the same channel.

I know what I'm going to be doing on a Saturday night, spinning up a SM container to play with it. Tvh does failovers too (with priorities and max streams logic) but it doesn't seem to failover more than one level.

Totally agree. I use IPTV SMARTERS as well and works amazing! No need for all that other crazy stuff lol

Possibly dumb, naive, but generally interested question. Is this a form of hacking, jail breaking, …other techno flexing of the innate system? If so, is there a possibility of hurting the truck, your warranty? Where does this lie in all of the “right to work on your own vehicle” laws?

Doesn't affect the vehicle at all.

Fun stuff! But fwiw, there are a ton of cable channels which are legally free to all.

Perhaps even more surprising is that many of the stations don't have commercials. For example TBS has a free feed and when they would normally air commercials on cable, the IPTV feed just has a "We'll be right back" type thing.

I went with tvheadend, didn't know about Stream master until now. Any benefits of SM vs tvh?

BTW, a nginx reverse proxy in front of Emby will be sufficient without messing with individual certificates.

Also put me in the camp of having lifetime Plex sub and then realizing the live TV support is inadequate.

I wanted to setup certs on my domain anyway so this was actually easier for me.

I guess I'm just a simple streamer, but while waiting for my ferry and then another hour until I lost cell service, I watched 2 hours of Paramount+. Phone was on Connect+ and the Paramount app supports Google Cast. Worked great.
