I think it's the same platform so that's probably exactly what it is. I don't mind it's looks, I like it more than the Lightning, which just seems bland to me. But if it's the same platform as the Hummer, I expect it to be cheaper than the Hummer, but probably not by much.
Yes, same platform as Hummer.

It's GM, so the good news - it's a new platform, fresh start. And it's GM, so the bad news - it's a new platform. Having owned at least one GM vehicle continuously since the 80s, I unfortunately know what's likely coming in terms of reliability and service issues. Would not surprise me at all if this new EV has valve train issues in the first two years.... oh wait.

"Like the Hummers, the electric Silverado will use GM’s new skateboard platform and Ultium modular battery system for EVs. It houses powertrain and suspension components in a flat package—similar in concept to a skateboard—that can easily be scaled to fit a variety of vehicle sizes and body styles.

That means Chevrolet will be able to offer the electric Silverado with a variety of cab, bed and battery sizes to fit various needs and pocketbooks.

Both fleet and retail models will be developed, and the top trims will deliver “more than 400 miles” of range, the automaker said. "

That isn’t surprising at all. There were many rumors that the EV Silverado and Sierra would use the Hummer EV’s platform. IMO this pushes it closer to a lifestyle truck rather than a true working truck like the F150 Lightning. My only concern is that the Hummer EV is super expensive and the Silverado will follow suit. I certainly don’t see them offering it at $40K like the Lightning. Also, I have to wonder if GM is going to offer the most expensive trim first. Just like the did with the Hummer and how they apparently plan to do with the Sierra EV (Denali will be offered first)
Reports are that the Sierra is only going to be available in Denali trim. It would make sense to only offer the chevy in the downmarket trim since chevy is supposed to be gm's "value brand".

That could end up being the situation. It might depend on their production capacity. Considering Ford's pricing strategy on the Lightning, GM could have a big opportunity to capture a larger share of the market. I still can't believe Ford is forcing customers to get a $9500 package in order to buy a $10000 larger battery.

Page doesn't exist yet but this is likely going to be the link. When the EUV reservations hit I got mine ~20 minutes before they were supposed to be open. FYI though, my reservation appeared to get lost in the system having done that. Had a visit from an executive at GM to my linkedin page shortly after reservations opened...

Of course the CES page has this link embedded from a button, so it could be either of these.

Thanks a bunch. I don’t mind the attention from GM Execs. Did you have to pick a dealer like Ford when you made your reservation?
Yes, though you are able to change the dealer later if you decide to, so don't spend a bunch of time looking for the one you want to use if you want to get in line first.

Oh, yeah, and let's not forget the Additional Dealer Markups that many dealers will feel justified charging on top of those two premiums. I'm beginning to feel even more like the R1T is the best value, has the best performance, design, etc., on the market. That is, until the vaunted $40k CyberTruck hits the streets in massive numbers in the next few months!

Oh, wait...I forgot...I'm not a TFB. Sorry 'bout that.... Hysteria can be quite contagious.

Dealer markups are going to be the final death nail of the franchise system. I buy a lot of cars, mostly because I'm a near Hoovie like idiot. So I take a bit of time to find dealers that don't charge markups. I was lucky on the F150 Lightning. Interstate Ford, in Dacono CO, is right down the street and doesn't charge markup on ordered vehicles. King Chevy/GMC/Buick in Longmont is another one that doesn't seem to screw over their customers.

I like it, but I previously owned an Avalanche. Will definitely watch, and reserve one as a backup to my R1T. The only things that could keep me from taking delivery of the Rivian are dropping the Max Pack or a major price bump ($5k+?). Even the price bump wouldn't necessarily be a deal breaker for me.

Would definitely not opt for the RST as shown with the huge wheels. Would want something like a 20" with more side wall.

Maybe not....

Just went to the reservation link provided earlier out of curiousity clicked "Next" and this is the message I got.

Looks like they might only offer WT and RST to start. I'm sure the "Reservations are full" message is a placeholder, but having WT or RST as the only available trim levels is kind of disappointing. I guess they have to start somewhere.

Guess people got in early, maybe the launch editions are all gone. Anyway, put my reservation down for WT/RST, but that just means this is a really reallly desperate backup.

I haven't heard if they are doing a launch edition for the silverado.

Ah, "First edition" not launch edition.

Guess I had Rivian on the brain (which is not something new).
