So I had my 1st Mile drive this last week and...WOW! Even though it was short lived, I definitely got the most out of it. The rep was timely, informative, and very friendly. He told me that we had to stay within the speed limits...I broke that rule almost immediately on I-80 and he didn't say a word...ha ha. It was a combo of me not realizing the speed and wanting to drive in the "seam", away from other vehicles. I regularly rotate between a Tundra CC, Audi S6, Rubicon, and Lex SC430. My S6 feels like I'm going 70 when I'm actually doing 90 & inversely, the Rubicon feels like it's doing 90 at 70. In sport mode, the Rivian was closest to the S6 - not sh*tting.
I live in Salt Lake City, near the mouth of Parley's Canyon on I-80. It's a notoriously steep and winding drive up the canyon with many semis. In sport mode, it was better than many coupes and sedans I've driven. We pulled off of I-80 on a stretch that had no cars (road to East Canyon) and got to do a 0 - 60 (well, 90, but who's counting?). Oh my!
When I got home, I switched my reservation from the Max pack to the Large pack in hopes that I might get one sooner. Call it a case of the "I need one now" syndrome. I may settle down and go back to the Max. But, for now, I'm hoping to see an email with an abandoned reservation on a similar build. Maybe wishful thinking, but I like my chances given the fact that there's a Rivian service center in SLC.
