They were not square BTW. I my setup completely and mounted it. Then added some putty to the back of the plate to transfer the wonky holes to my backer to drill and countersink them. It may be easier to just drill new holes but 4 was enough for me in my bumper.
The bottom two screws are just holding the beauty ring,plate and backer together and are not mounted to the truck.
Drilling the top holes you will pass through the outer cover and them a second layer of plastic.
I looked at quite a few monro videos and some photos of wrecked rivians to see if anything was living back there. I hit nothing vital.
This is just how I did it, NOT a how to or recomendation to drill into blind areas of your R1. Just sayin.
It's incredible sturdy and I like the looks better that any other offering besides no plate, but alas. It already had holes because of poor communication with Rivian. Oh yeah, black 21's FTW.
