[New Jersey] Getting similar/sequential plates for new Rivian

Hello, Northeast and specifically, NJ!

I’m begun my purchasing process and was doing some due diligence wrt registration and it looks like I can get a "1" sticker for my current car's license plate and get the same plate with "2" at the end for my new car (in this case, R1S). But I couldn't find any specific info on how to go about it or if it works for everyone. Does anyone here know? FYI, I don't have a vanity plate.

Also, I am likely leasing - never leased before so not sure if that matters at all?

OK, confirmed with the local DMV and looks like I can do that but with special/custom plates. When I get a new custom plate, I can get a second one with a "-2" that I can use on the other car. This has to be a new custom plate and not an existing one for some reason.
