PayPal has buyer and seller protection policies. To get that coverage, you need to do the transaction as a "goods & services" instead of a "friends & family" (basically like mailing cash). For the goods and services, PayPal takes 30 cents plus 2.9% as a fee for the transaction. This allows you to receive credit card payments though.
