Next Los Angeles Rivian Adventure [August]

Hey Adventurers,

We’re happy to say our first adventure was a success. With 14 Rivians (10 R1Ts & 4 R1S) carrying 20 people and 1 good boy ?. Our convoy reached the 5,689 foot summit for what we believe to be the largest EV meetup at Santiago Peak thus far. Thank you @SoCal Rob for making this observation.

Of course it wouldn’t be a tale to tell without some mishaps. Aside from many now necessary car washes, showers, and loads of laundry; there were a few new pin stripe fashion adds, a popped 22” (sorry @BoltAction get well soon) and a carabiner key fob lost forever to the moon dust.

With this one in the books we look onward to the next venture. If you were unable to join us for this one we sure hope you can make the next. Please fill out the poll for which date in August we should host our next day-trip to Sierra Pelona of the Angeles National Forest. Depending on the date and people’s appetite there may be an option to camp overnight.

I’m hesitant to say yes because we had someone pop a 22” on the last trip. The issue with the 22”are the sidewalls. The ATs have stronger sidewalls for off-roading.

That said I’ve seen plenty of ill equipped vehicles make this trip, such as Toyota Corollas in stock street tires. In the end it just comes down to the driver navigating obstacles, speed, and perhaps luck.

Well I was lucky enough to get a spare before they stoped supplying them. I'll read through the reviews and see what my comfort level is.

I made it up there and back with 22's on Saturday with the crew. I would not do it again without a spare tire (peace of mind) .

But yeah you can do it just fine.

? Still haven't washed it yet. The whole truck has PPF so paint should have no scratches.

Bike rack passed the trial test!!

I honestly thought I'd be leaving the bike and rack somewhere at the bottom of a cliff. All is well, I recommend it (Kuat send check thanks ? ).

You'll be fine with 22s as long as you drive slow and do your best to spot the obstacles. I'm the one it happened to, wish i would have had a spare but i do want to go again with 22s (more prepared of course). The tire liquid worked great however, even with sidewall puncture so unless you completely shred it, you'd likely make it out without a spare. Key is also to never go alone too, just in case. No reception on these kinds of trips.

It is the "fiz a flat" type puncture sealent. It's meant more for the tread area but it seemed to work in a pinch for the sidewall.
