Knew I shouldn't have trusted that AI search result about the origin of the Rivian hoot.

I know we have the Easter screech owls in our area because of the "whinny" they make. Sounds like we must also have a horned owl I wasn't aware of.

I was leaving on a work trip a couple weeks ago and parked in the Denver airport garage. As I walked away the hoot lock sound happened and 3 pigeons in the concrete bolted out right in front of me and flew away. Guessing it was not a coincidence.

And oddly the Western Screech do not screech either. It’s the Barn Owls that do.
