Paused software download

Hi, I’m trying to install the new software, but it hasn’t even downloaded and it says paused Connect to Wi-Fi

when I connect to Wi-Fi. Nothing happens. I have tried a soft and a hard reset.

any help or advice would be highly appreciated

It won't tell you that it's downloading, nor will it show you a progress bar for the actual download itself. It'll just get queued and download in the background. Once it's fully downloaded and staged, you'll get a notification that it's ready to install.

If you link your vehicle on Rivian Roamer, I believe you should be able to see download progress if I remember correctly.

Yup! It'll show download progress. Software updates don't show up in the app until after they've downloaded and gone through their "preparing" phase.

Check and see if there is a connectivity issue or firewall blocking the download. Connected to wifi, it shouldn't be paused for that long.

In your image, you aren't connected to wifi.

it has been using its own cellular network as I couldn’t get it to connect to Wi-Fi. I finally tried disabling the 5 GHz band and that seemed to do the trick, but it’s only about 4 Mbps on Wi-Fi so the Rivian cellular network was actually faster at about 15 mbps

Sure, but it won't download on cellar until later. Wifi, even 2.4GHz, will get it much sooner.

If you're having trouble with downloading an update and you have COnnect+.

1. Restart
2. Disable Wi-Fi

This will force it to download over cellular. Otherwise it'll try again overnight.

Mine failed this morning and then said it installed the previous 18.30 version instead. Was odd. I went to Rivian’s website, signed on, went to support chat and they pushed a fresh OTA update to my vehicle and it installed properly second try. Tried to do it from the app but just got an AI assistant.

I was going to suggest that.

I actually had to put a hotspot in my garage because my Tesla would connect to the network but the connection was so bad I could not connect to the car. Installing a hot spot resolved that.

This update was the most problematic one I’ve gotten in that I’ve had several little weird issues since downloading it. I had to do a soft reset before it’d even work, then several more resets in the next two days-proximity sensors suddenly stopped working, Sirius lost connection for a long time(over an hour) and lastly the radio presets all looked really weird, nonsensical verbiage.

Having said all this, I love the Google maps integration-big game changer. The nuisance is not troubling to me at this point. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned

We lost the ability to zoom out and have the map still track with Google maps
