I got my A2Z adapter last week and I stopped by the Peterborough supercharger to see if it would work.

I went to “charge your other EV” in the Tesla app and selected the number of charger. In the app I chose “start charging” and put the adapter on the end of the NACS charger. It took about 2 minutes to start.

The charging speeds were excellent at 215KW. The price was about 1/3 more than when I charge my Tesla.

Everything worked well and I’m glad to have access to the Tesla chargers. The only issue was I had to use 2 spots to reach the charging port on the Rivian. All the people there were staring but no one seemed annoyed that I was using 2 spots.

I wonder whether there would be difference in cost if I used the Rivian app.

The Peterborough supercharger charges Rivians 75¢ kw/h and Teslas 61¢ kw/h.
Downtown Toronto is around 45¢ kw/h, so you pay a lot more for charging in the small towns.

If you don’t have the Tesla membership then it doesn’t make a difference in the price to charge with the Tesla app or through Rivian. If you have the membership then you’ll pay what Tesla owners pay as long as you use the Tesla app to start the session. I’d recommend going as far as removing the payment info in you Rivian account so it doesn’t try to bill through Rivian, the first time I used my A2Z NACS adapter I was billed the non-member price even though I have the membership.

In Alberta the non-member price is $0.90/kWh and the membership price is $0.67/kWh, one charge from 10%-75% covers the cost of membership.

I drive 1600km or more to get to work and back home, the only reliable fast charging available is Tesla. In my case I will add ~470 kWh at superchargers and it costs about $320 with the membership, $430 without so it saves me ~$110 per trip and I usually make the trip twice a month.

If you’re using the supercharger network a lot it is worth paying for the membership.

Great to see another Rivian blue in Durham :) I may have driven by you (it was a female driving at the time) going by the GM plant in Oshawa.

Can I ask how long did it take you to the get the A2Z adapter? Ordered mine a week ago for an upcoming road trip end of June and hoping I will get it before that. I was hoping CDN shipments would be faster since they are coming from QC.

It’s going to be close!

It took me 2.5 weeks to get the adaptor. I ordered my A2Z adapter on May 27th and it shipped on June 11th. The delivery was quick and I got it on June 12th.

I was waiting for the Rivian free adaptor, but I needed it for trips to the cottage and didn’t want to wait forever.

If you do not have a Tesla Membership, charging is super easy as plug in and charge since it'll be billed to your Rivian app. And the cost will show up inside as well.

No, I haven’t been driving around the GM plant. Currently living in Whitby, where I saw a blue Rivian on the first day I got mine on Medland avenue. I haven’t seen it since though. Blue is definitely the best. BTW, have You gotten yours PPFed?

Good to know they work because I was nearly stranded in Peterborough as they do not have any working CCS chargers except for the 25kw at the Nissan dealer!

No PPF - Heard 5k+ for it so decided to hold off for now...Thinking I need to tint the windows soon. There is a place in pickering that said they were doing a PPF on a Rivian....not sure if they ended up doing it...I can give you their info if you are looking to get it done and want a quote

I didn’t want any stone chips on the flat front so I got mine done at AVOTTO in Pickering. I also got the front window and side windows done. 2,500 for everything. They have a 10 year warranty. However there are some dust specks and bubbles in the ppf, a couple of edges lifting. Bubbles in the tint. I told them about it a they said they would replace it but I haven’t had time to go back.

The front window tint is excellent. It really cuts the heat. I got the lowest tint amount and you can’t even tell it’s tinted.

AVOTTO is the same place i was speaking with - So your Rivian must've been the other rivian they were applying PPF on....did you get the breakdown of how much the tint cost vs. PPF? I do need to tint soon since the heat inside is quite bad....Did you just tint the front 2 windows or the windshield also?

I got the tint on the front windshield and the 2 front windows and it’s great.
The PPF was a full frontal including the front black A pillar for $2,000. The tint for the windshield and 2 front windows was $500.
