Proud owner of a new Tri-Motor R1S. Love the drive feel.
Beautiful technical product - it is dynamic art Without a doubt.
I’m really enjoying the R1S!

Tried to connect to my garage door opener after getting home and ended up calling Rivian after multiple unsuccessful tries. Support sat through a few efforts then had me reset the infotainment system. No luck.
Next we reset the vehicle. No luck.
Decided to tackle it later.

I’m enjoying the Forum environment and look forward to years of learning and hopefully contributing.

If resetting the vehicle upon arrival at the home base might be a useful step for all new owners, it should become a standard practice.

HAPPY New Year everyone!

Congrats on your new S! There are some threads here about garage door issues. Maybe you can find some tips in there to get yours connected.

Some folks here reset often, like after every software update, and others only do it when necessary. I was told by service once that unless you are doing multiple hard resets consecutively it should not cause any issues.

My 20 year old liftmaster wasn't cooperating when I first tried programming it. I think I ended up pulling into the garage and then it worked. Initially, like every other car I've had with homelink, I was trying to program the garage doors while parked in the driveway. Seems like the range of my garage door is just bad. And also why I added a 3rd party Homekit adapter so I can just do it from my phone from anywhere.

The reset most likely wasn't going to help. Garage door openers are always a fun thing, had issues with my previous vehicles as well.

Quick tip: Does the opener have a button on it for syncing? Most do. This is what I did to get mine to work, not the handheld remote but the motor itself.

Yes I’ve got a sync/learn button, and door height adjustments too. I’m trying to see if one push of the button suffices or if two pushes are necessary to get the blinking light.
And pulling into the garage is exactly what I’m going to do today.
Thank you for the welcome advice.

Watch a youtube vid on your brand & model. Helped immensely with my Tri T.

Got it to work fine once I pulled the R1 into the garage all the way so the opener was effectively above it. Success!
Thanks again everyone.

Yep, same here. I’m no expert but, modern garage door openers use a rolling code, so the R1 has to be programmed with the “program” button on the motor itself.
