For those that have ordered and taken delivery already I have a question.

My order window should come up soon and I have a unique situation where I am taking delivery at the SC near my vacation home. So once I know my delivery date I will have to book a flight and plan a trip specifically to take delivery.

I also have a number of business and personal trips in the next 3-4 months so my schedule will be a little bit hectic.

Once you place your order and they give you your estimated delivery date how does it all work? Do you get to pick a specific date? Do they let you push it out a few days (weeks?) if you need to? Do you work with a human at all to coordinate things or is everything just done through the app?

Typically someone is assigned at your SC who should be communicating with you.

A date is scheduled after a VIN is assigned and they know approximately when it will arrive at the SC. You do have some flexibility to change it if needed. I was going to travel (ended up changing my travel) but they stated they could work with me. It sounds like delaying a week was reasonable. Two weeks was possible but probably the most they could do without reassigning to another VIN. Outside of that would likely require some special approval.

They also take into account if there are any containments that need to be addressed prior to the delivery which may impact getting a delivery date right away. If they are backed up handling vehicles, they won't schedule until they know approximately when they can work on the vehicle and have someone available to handle PDI.

Most of my communication was done via email but I did have an opportunity to talk to my local delivery team twice over the phone as I did request a phone call for some specific questions I had.

They try to work with you, but most comments over the years have indicated that requesting more than a week to 10 days past the date they tell you becomes problematic. They have new vehicles coming in weekly and don't want to store vehicles very long.

Also, you really need to get your head around the fact that sometimes deliveries get postponed or cancelled at the last minute by Rivian. It should not happen but it does. Flying in to pick up your Rivian comes with some risk.

Yep, I definitely will plan for delays. I know things can happen and cause a delay to the planned pickup date.
