One of the biggest misunderstandings I find when it comes to winter range isn't ambient temperature but BATTERY temperature. My Rivians live in a heated garage (45-50F) so even when its -F the range hit is minimized since the battery appears to hold that temperature without much additional effort, especially on highway trips.

Starting with a cold soaked pack, however, is a much different story.

Yup. That battery is around 2,000lbs of heavy metal thermal mass. Battery temperature changes pretty slowly in relation to ambient temperature.

Even throwing some insulation in the walls of a garage can keep the average temperature of your battery up a few degrees on a cold morning.
