R1S ordering in NYS, available now???

Hi all - (hopefully) future R1S owner here. Put down a refundable deposit and had a guide (out of CA) call me back. I've been looking for a Midnight Dual Standard+ which is not listed in the shop at the moment. He says there might be one at the Mahwah SC and will let me know. Calls me back a few days later and tells me that it is available (just need to swap out the tires back to 21") and can be picked up in a few days. How does that work? In thought all vehicles are shipped out of Normal?

You lucked out. Mahwah is one of their pick-up centers. I took delivery there earlier in the month.

Yes, all Rivians originate from Normal but they don't all sit there waiting to be paired to an owner.

Enjoy the R1S once you get it. It shouldn't take long for them to swap wheels and get you into your new Rivian.

Some are at SC lots, either they shipped them there for faster delivery or it just ended up there. The shop doesn't show all vehicles, they are not going to ship the one in California to NY

What probably happened is this was shipped to mahwah and the sale fell through. It likely just happened and it wasn't put in the shop yet (or was hidden to you because mahwah isn't "close")

Thanks for the pointers. I went ahead and confirmed the reservation, and already received a VIN and a delivery date 10 days from now. Now if only the sales guide would call me back to answer my questions...

One more question for the group here: planning on trading in our car, but we are a one car family. Does anyone know what the sequence of events is for the trade in? If there are issues with the Rivian during inspection process, do we have a chance to bring our old car back if the SC has to make fixes?
