I don't think I would purchase a matt like this. It seems like it would fall off and probably interfere with the gate lip flap that is between the bed and the gate.

I do like the idea of a protection piece for the top of the gate, as others have mentioned. Mine is totally scarred up now. It is a truck, so it doesn't bother me much, but I would probably buy something that protects that area.

Thanks everyone for all the great feedback and ideas!
I'm coming up on 3 years next month with your bed mat (this one: https://a.co/d/019R4yTS) and I still love it!

I'm very interested in the tailgate pad, but still confused about what it'd cover (tailgate or flap or both) and how it would attach/interface with the flap. Any details you can share?

You want mine? It came with my truck and it's been rolled up in the garage ever since! Makes sliding things very difficult.
BestEVmod has two different products for Gen1 and Gen2, so I am not sure yours will fit my Gen2 bed.

Two non skid rubber mats from Home Depot have worked very well in my bed. A tailgate mat strikes me as superfluous.

Honestly, what I really want for the tailgate is an aftermarket metal (or durable plastic) upper tailgate top trim replacement. That's probably my biggest complaint about my Rivian as a truck... That soft trim piece gets nicked and dinged by just about anything out there, but worse it's TACKY and I've ripped it off just trying to jump out of my truck bed because it gripped my shoes.
My F150 had a plastic top trip piece and that thing lived forever. I'd love to see something developed as an upgrade!
