watching the video's, seeing photos, and a few youtube reviews, statements and or visuals mentioned the hood might be a bit too long for this size segment.
i would have to agree with this observation. i dont think there is a need to have such a long hood. if they shorten it about 10 to 12 inches that might allow for more cabin room by pushing forward the driver to front would give that room and allow for a better view of road. in addition, it would allow for a little more trunk space all while keeping the overall length of the car the same. i know the frunk is there but i personally would prefer a larger cabin, a forward design, and a little more truck but keeping the over length the same. with EV cars this is possible and not with a combustion engine since it needs that space in the front or rear. many of the youtube revies do say that the rear can seat taler people but if given the option, for a few more inches of leg room im sure that would make this car even more desirable.

btw, has anyone else notice that nearly the many of car youtubers are freak'n tall? like over 6ft tall? most of society are not that tall. but i digress.

example of a shorter hood that was great. back in the day i had a 1991 honda civic. the hood was not that long. it allowed for better visibility. coupled it as a wagon, it was very versatile. this new r3x is very similar to me. have it as an EV vehicle is just a dream. i highly doubt rivian would overall such a design but it would be a great adjustment.

the only other vehicle that does this is the EV telo truck. personally i think its an awesome truck but looks ugly as hell compared to the r3x or even the very affordable slate EV truck. but as an example of front forward cabin design, the idea is very nice to see.

in other countries smaller cars with this design is not uncommon. japan has for years cars like this called the KEI cars. they are smaller and can have forward cabin designs. some people have brought over from japan these KEI cars and trucks and they work great in america.

i not saying to remove the hood area but just make it shorter. maybe have the front cabin moved forward about 10-12 inches.
i am sure everyone has different opinion on this hood length but i havent seen any discussion about it.

Telo will struggle with passing crash tests with the short hood here. Also while this short hood design helps the driver see out the front better, it's a lot worse for pedestrians in a crash - will push the pedestrian down and under instead of over the vehicle.

Better double-check your memory. I had a 1991 Civic Si the hood was about 40% of the total length of the car.

And the only way you shorten the hood a foot is to drastically shorten the wheelbase and make the interior even smaller.

I’m pretty sure the R3(X) shares enough with the R2 front end that the costs would prevent any significant modifications.
