Maybe try calling your credit card issuer and see if they are rejecting the charges. Sometimes they have some algorithm that blacklists certain charges.
Did that too. Bank said the payments were not even hitting their system so they couldnt approve or reject them.

Sounds like it’s a service appointment fix. Sorry, I’m sure it’s super frustrating. I know it was for me when it wasn’t working.

Similar thing happened to me a while ago: RAN charging failed due to “payment error,” except I also had cell/GPS outage as well. Turns out, that chip is also responsible for the RAN handshake. Once I had it replaced, no issues.

UPDATE:

Finally got someone from Rivian who potentially figured the issue out. I had to reach out again and got a support rep who just sat on the chat with me for hours while he worked to get someone to give my case a proper review. Then a Lead called me and decided to just own my issue until resolution. A day later they figured out that a part they had to change before I took delivery was the cause. My delivery was delayed a week due to a component that needed to be fixed and this was done improperly to cause a syncing issue. So after all that I have to take it to a service center to get it fixed and then it should just work!

They said the next Service center appointments were October too..... but he would work to get me in sooner considering they sort of did this on accident before i got the car and then had the issue just sort of glossed over until now.

Its funny because I tried to get someone to get into a service center to look at the car but was kind of dismissed once. Fingers crossed this can happen before I have a road trip in September and that it fixes the issue!

Hopefully they can get you in ASAP so you don't need to worry about this anymore!

So last update. They had a tech dig into it more. A part they swapped before I took delivery caused a code error that cause a sync issue on RAN chargers. They did a software patch along with the new software update and my car works now on RAN. pretty amazing they did this honestly.

Awesome your issue has been resolved!

Bummer that it took this long for the problem to be diagnosed.

Just out of question, what was the non-synced part that was causing the issue?

there was a component that had a recall or something before I took delivery. My car was one of the few that had the defective part in it. When they swapped the chip it seems they didn’t calibrate it correctly to my specific vehicle which cause the code to throw an error when it tried to sync my account with the cloud for any reason. It really came down to a single line of code that was wrong and was updated over the air in the end.

very specific issue and likely a learning experience for them on what else to look for when things don’t work. Thinking back now I sort of wonder why they don’t have mobile charging testers or something close to that to diagnose those issues. For me it was tough because they would try things and then ask me to find a RAN site which is an hours drive away. It was fortunate I was going to Truckee when they patched it so I could test.

but in the end it’s just start up pain points and very specific support issues. I think this will all get better over time too. I genuinely did my best to be as patient and supportive of everyone I worked with on the phone and in person. I made sure to defend everyone I spoke with to management and after each call.

I agree with you. We drive complex machines. Good to hear your issue has been resolved.
