You have to be accelerating with vigor for it to kick in. It’s a great safety feature, since as this post proves out, life happens. I had it kick in twice on my GV70 over 2 years of ownership and never had any trouble parking very close to the wall (where I back into every day). It really comes in handy if someone is flying through a parking lot while you’re backing.I don't know about anyone else, but I certainly don't want my vehicle braking for me. There's too much control now. Especially since my garage is tight. I park with 1-2 inches to spare
