If overheating is the issue I hope they can fix it. Mine shows up in less than .5 miles going down a steep road even at 40 percent SOC. I never had this problem with my tesla or chevy volt which has a smaller battery.

Just poor battery thermal design. Rivian is the only vehicle manufacturer that has a single cooling plate axially cooling two sandwiched layers of cells. They screwed up, plain and simple.

When regen craps out like this, Rivian should compensate by blending in the real brakes so that the braking effect remains consistent. As far as I can tell, it does not, making this a safety issue. You don’t want brakes to suddenly be less effective. They should fix and issue a recall.

Eh, Tesla operated like this for over ten years. Just recently they finally added a blended brake option in the controls. I agree it would be nice for it to be an option. It is a safety issue, but not a huge one. The Rivian UI does alert you to the issue.
