It isn't a Canada thing. I don't have it either. I figured it was a standard pack thing. Maybe it's a Gen 2 thing? Then again, I don't even have the highest regen setting with the standard pack.

If you're worried about saving your brakes, you want to keep regen on as high as possible. The more it uses regen, the less your brakes are involved.
Not Gen 2 only. My Gen 1 has it.

Is there any information about using the highest level of the regenerative braking on second generation R1S? Does it put extra wear on the brakes?
Regular brakes are kinetic device and uses friction to slow and to stop the vehicle. Regenerative braking is an electrical thing. It uses the motor as a generator to put back the converted kinetic energy into electrical energy.

Think of it like engine braking on an ICE. Especially on a manual transmission vehicle, one can downshift to lower gear within the operating RPM range and the vehicle slows down very much like regen on an EV. The difference is that the EV is capturing mechanical energy into an electrical energy and stowing back into the battery cells.

The driver assist braking is when the battery is charged beyond 90%, regenerative braking cannot capture as much energy as when the charge is lower (has to do with the cells being able to accept generated energy); hence the vehicle uses the regular brakes more in addition the regen to slow down and stop.

In all cases, Rivian uses the regular brakes to bring and to hold the vehicle to stop. It does not have a roll feature like some EVs do.
