Reinforced Underbody Shield - RUS - salt corrosion

I live in the northeast. I was wondering if RUS will theoretically protect the battery and undercarriage components against salt corrosion? Or does it increase the risk of salt corrosion by trapping the salt? Or does it not impact that at all. Sorry if this was already discussed.

My understanding is it has no impact. It's just a heavier and more reinforced shield that replaces the existing shield to provide better protection against damage from things like rock damage during crawling or other off road adventures.

Shield is a composite plastic over top of aluminum, bonded to the bottom of the battery case.

I thought the rest was carbon fiber. This is the first I've heard of aluminum and plastic for the RUS.

I think he means plastic versus metallic and elastic. All composites are considered plastic and not metallic or elastic, except metal matrix composites.
