Anyone else experiencing this bug where the AC won't turn on like before after using Rivian Assistant? For a couple of hot minutes, I thought I was going to have drive without AC.

Basically, the AC won't turn on unless you hit the AUTO button. Pressing the snowflake icon, temperature up/down, or fan speed won't do anything. The AC just cycles on and off really quickly.

I've seen this behavior where it immediately turns back off as soon as you turn it on - in my case it was because I had all the vents closed. (Well, I didn't do it, the truck did it to itself somehow.)

If all the vents are set to closed it won't turn on, it'll just cycle itself back off again immediately but it's not intuitive and there's no error message. Auto mode controls vent open/shut so that's probably why it works for you. Try tapping on the vent controls to set them to open first, or maybe ask the assistant to "turn on the AC and open the face vents" or something along those lines.

I don't think it's a bug, it's just really poor UX design.

I'll have to give it a try. It worked on the first day with Rivian Assistant. I don't recall closing any of the vents.

Yeah me either! I actually use auto mode exclusively so I have no idea how it got into manual mode with everything disabled. Maybe that part is a real bug... But having actually watched your video now I'm pretty confident that's what it is since all your vents are showing the closed cross-circle symbol.

Actually I can imagine a bug or edge case where the assistant hears "set the AC to 68" and interprets that as "set the temperature to 68 and since nothing else was mentioned default the other settings to off" or something like that. LLM-AI is often pretty dumb in surprising ways lol.

I had this bug from the previous software update. After getting 2026.15 I haven’t seen the issue. I’d just have to touch one of the vents then it would turn on

What was the prior issue? I have had an issue in the past where I couldn't get heat for an entire drive. Wondering when this happened to you and why/symptoms. Tyvm in advance.

Thanks for the thread I started seeing this a couple of days ago. Confirm the auto button turns it on… so weird. Restarts do not fix.
