Rivian BREAK IN caught on gear guard camera video

Actually the X7 can be remoted in from the App to view the cameras. Unfortunately the Rivian tech is so far behind it will be 10 years before this feature is offered.

Pre LCI… the 360 camera feature is just snapshot based on that one and it doesn’t “activate” on movement like Gear Guard.

it would also be massively helpful if the app notified you of intention/collision/impact or trigger of the camera and then stream it.

Safelight was $1083 for window repair but Rivian recommends a Rivian authorized dealer / repair center

Scarcity of authorized repair centers means they can make the price whatever they want and take customers to the cleaners!

Try to understand, all things HUGE take time. I not only put my deposit down a couple years ago, but I bought stock in the company too. Not being wealthy, some days it is hard to see it in the red, but that is now. This is all about the future. I believe my R1T is just the ground floor of what's to come.
And remember, all great things take time and $$$. There are so many reasons why this new technology is pricey to service, but rest assured the future is here, the service centers are training so many new repair people, to deal with the increasingly high tech parts in the futuristic vehicles. There are reasons to not put hard earned $$ into a new company, but there are so many more reason to do it. Be a part of the future... besides, there is no way such an expensive, high tech vehicle is going to be a cheap trip to the local lug wrench king. Come to think of it, my mustang was never a cheap fix either... not if I wanted it to run like the Queen of the road it was! Supply & demand sets most prices in this economy. The folks in Normal are cranking them out as quickly, but as well made, as they can right now... we're doing this for our grandkids future. And man oh man, the future looks bright!!

5 hours of Calibration? - for a rear window?

Everyone seems to want to be paid more when they work. But then want to pay others as little as possible. New technology takes new training. Mechanics need to feed their kids too, and also have to cover overhead and other business costs. Expensive vehicles are expensive to work on... that will never change. These are top of the line EV's. Not Hyundai's, mostly made in Korea... or others like that. US made, US paid, US quality. I'm a supporter of all of that, being a US manufacturer myself. So we all have to be a little more careful in our vehicles day to day! But omg, I would not trade this truck for anything! Grammas got 800HP!!!! Let her pass! : )

You need to know when you're being ripped off... 30 min to remove and replace the rear floor mats? Go out to your Rivian and remove and replace the rear floor mats. I bet it takes you a total of 5min or less. Also, 1 hour to vacuum up broken glass from a side window break in? Add that time to the floor mat time and you have 1.5hrs to remove the rear floor mats and vacuum glass. If any employee at any automotive shop actually took 1.5hrs to do that job they would be fired on day one. Those two jobs combined should take about 15min total, not 1.5hrs at $125/hr.

HelloNYRob, I'd say I hate to disagree, but sometimes it' valuable, for disseminating information. Knowledge is power... and makes life less stressful.

Cost of Doing Business 101

It's not that easy, open door vaccum glass return mat... 5 minutes? Not in MY R1T. I want ALL that damn glass out. Every spec of it reminds me of that jerk that broke into my fabulous Rivian... right?
Okay... now we're in agreement, let's fly with it!

Here's reality of that 1.5 hour charge.

Before there is ever a time sheet or invoice for payment...

Go out and lease a building, fill it with needed machines, toilet paper and a fridge for lunches...and hire employees, who need to make a living wage, and save money and retire someday... without a pension like they got in the 'old days'. Are you keeping an eye on everything, have an employee who just does safety in the workplace? Good.
OSHA could show up unexpected!

Now, pay their salaries, as well as the same tax amounts for each one to uncle Sam, that they pay to uncle sam.. insure them, and every asset, and everyone who steps foot in said building. Make sure those workers, who generally do a damn good job, get a Turkey and a Ham & $$ at Thanksgiving, and a NICE $$$ bonus at Christmas time ( like my guys get! ) AND have enough left over the give yourself a good reason to have done all of that, for so many years, missing time with your family and friends, 5-6 days a week... Woot Woot!!

Rob, and everyone really else, who, like myself, pays this much for new technology, still with 'bugs', knowing there are no Rivian Repair centers near you... (a beautiful and serene 98 mile r/t on a 2 lane Freeway... ugh... from here) are you still with me? Sweeeet! Now, are you starting to get a basic idea on why it costs so much yet? I truly am trying to help. But better than a reason why...

A Solution.
Have you requested that part of the bill be re-evaluated by the department head, and perhaps you can get a bit of it refunded? Then you, of course, write a nice review, thanking them for their hard work and fair play. I told Rivian my story, and I got a water bottle, a nice T-shirt and the idea they get it, but it is what it is right now. And I knew that going into this. And for some crazy reason, it's part of the magic, and part of the ride...

Worth a try. Worst thing they can say is No. I bet they work with you, see note about smiling a lot below... works for me.

ps- Tylenol are $16. each capsule on a medical bill from a hospital. Fish Oil is $12. last time around.

There are reasons for these things. But it never hurts to ask for a partial refund, and a deep, genuine smile goes a looonnnggg way at any business that deals with the public. Especially these days... so go easy on the customer service folks there, not everyone does... working for the public in a Post Pandemic society... yuck!

My sons back passenger window was shot out with a BB gun. To get all the glass out of vehicle and key part here is inside the door panel was well more than an hour.
