Hawaii should be better. Having a gas car in Hawaii makes zero sense. Range is never an issue. And solar is abundant.
The CEO of Maui Brewing CO is buying two…not sure if you saw this interview with Garrett…

Yeah I was thinking the same about WA, OR, UT, CO. I imagine if you looked at this per capita they would all really stand out which isn't surprising to me considering the target audience for this truck.
State tax credits/incentives can make a difference also.

I have an R1S order for my second house in Kona. Range can certainly be an issue on the Big Island but still manageable. Hawaii also has the highest electricity prices in the country. Historically, the islands have been dependent on importing fossil fuels to generate electricity.

That said, Hawaii is also truly committed to renewables including solar, wind, geothermal, even wave energy, so EV’s will make much more sense in the future. However, I have a small net metered PV system on my house and the utility won’t let me upgrade it with net metering unless I get a battery backup. There is already too much excess production during the day from residential rooftop solar systems apparently.

I see a fair amount of Tesla’s on island, as well as LEAF’s, a few I3’s, and a handful of Mach-E’s. Once I get my R1T on the mainland, I plan to move my 2012 Model S to Kona until my R1S gets delivered to the Big Island, but I imagine that’ll take a few more years. I suppose to could take delivery on the mainland and ship it to Kona myself, but I’m hesitant to do that without available service.

On a beer note, Maui Brewing Co is solid, but check out Ola Brew on the Big Island…

You mean trucks like the one my contractor owns with tires and a suspension like this?

And to top it off, they have their own custom nameplate?
