The defense (For LA Silver) rests.
I truly believe this: one of the best things about Rivian right now is that they have enough colors that everyone can choose something they love and enjoy. As someone on team yellow, I'm beyond ecstatic that they have not one, but four legitimate vehicle colors (red, green, blue, yellow), three very distinctive neutrals, and a beautiful black & a shockingly great looking white.

It also doesn't hurt that this truck looks magnificent in any color.

Everyone gets to be right!

Right on.

The only consistent thing I hear from people is that pictures don't do the colors justice so I remain in LA silver camp until I get to see them all in person. Never considered a Red vehicle before but really curious about Canyon red. It looks different in every photo. Yellow looks like a fun color and fits the playfulness of the vehicle. White looks really classy and I saw this color in an earlier video. I am not sure if it is Black or El Cap but the mat finish (which I love) tells me it is probably not a production color. The problem is having too many good choices.

After a few weeks with my EV6 I can tell you that having Matte paint is stressful.. especially so I suspect on a vehicle you’ll be driving off road. Does look super cool though!

Why is it stressful? Get dirty easy and hard to clean?

I believe you have to be careful not to accidentally "polish" the matte color when cleaning.

You can apply XPEL Stealth to a black R1T and get the same effect without the maintenance difficulties. It's paint protection film that works with matte finish vehicles but can also make any glossy finish vehicle appear matte.

They said it would be a few weeks. Chill.
I've been firmly in this camp. That being said, the one valid concern here isn't with the prices, but that CS says they're ignoring configuration changes until the prices are reinstated. So if you want to switch to a configuration that's more widely available, you're SOL until it gets updated.

Why is that a concern? Anyone with an imminent delivery seems to be having their pricing manually restored and they're assigned a guide who can assist with config changes, anyway.

If your delivery is not imminent, then you can mentally iterate over your configuration and once the pricing is updated you can formalize those thoughts.

What do you lose by waiting to make the change?

"anyone" is a very broad statement. There are a lot of people with March - May delivery windows who do not have a guide and will want to change their configuration. When you're first contacted by a guide, if you want to change your configuration (for example, going from 20 to 22" wheels), then after the fact you get pushed back.

It *seems* like they're basically matching people to a built vehicle for the most part and what's at the service center. So without a way to proactively communicate that you're open to a change, you very well may be missing out on a delivery window.

Not sure how much you know about Matte paint but as I understand the final coating has mini ‘cups’ that absorb light rather than reflect it which gives it the matte look.

So you can only hand wash it in a very careful way and if you buff out the finish or scratch it you will have shiny spots.

Just confirmed with CS that if you “make changes” (I contemplated moving to the R1S) then your timeline could be impacted.
At this point, what’s a few more years right?
