no trees on the beach, either … and beaches come with a shot clock time limit : )Good luck above treeline unless you also carry a land anchor.

The quality and price of slingshot ropes now is a great solution … I still prefer a winch in snow to keep everything slow and controlled, and doesn't throw stuff around in the vehicles. The maxtrax definitely have their advantages, I shouldn't be too critical. I just wish Rivian didn't quit the winch.100% agree. A kinetic recovery rope and a friend are 100% better than maxtrax. We went snow wheeling a few years ago and got SUPER stuck. the maxtrax were almost no help. A shovel, a recovery rope, and a friend(s) are way more valuable to have on the trail.
Waiting on my Rivian.. but got a group of 6 together last year for some light off roading adventures. 10/10.. the complete silence is just magic. My favorite part was at 5:55 when the Rivian literally snuck up on the camera out of the trees. So silent you can hear the creek. It made me want to mute the entire video to not hear the noise of all the others. I can tell I'm definitely going to be even more against ICE when I get the R1S. I already hate ICE noise.
These are both great. I'm not even sure we have anything like that in WA, everywhere I go most of our forest roads are locked or long wait list for permit.Waiting on my Rivian.. but got a group of 6 together last year for some light off roading adventures. 10/10.. the complete silence is just magic.
If you have time, I put together a quick video of the trip that I've linked here:
I also took this video that didn't make it into the final video but it was just wild how incredibly quiet they are compared to ICE. There were two jeeps with us and it's wild how loud they are (at the end of the video) compared to the Rivians.
Thank you! I want to get out again this summer and put together another video similar to this, more planning ahead of time to tell a better story, but I was happy with how it turned out. Mostly because I got to go play all day with the Rivians! These are both great. The silence is amazing, thats the one thing that drives me nuts about so many of these trail videos. they have nothing but engine noise and are completely missing out on nature. Even the quick pass by the Jeeps (and yes I have a JGC so I'm noisy) shows the vast difference in noise levels, and those are the quietest jeeps I've heard on trail.
