I’ve got 250 Rivian rewards points that I think are redeemable for free RAN charging through 9/8/26. How does this work? Do I just plug in and it sees my account with the points? Do I have to do something before charging?

You’re conflating two different aspects of the reward program, unless something has changed recently. When you receive a referral credit, there are 2 parts:
- 3 months of free RAN charging, which begins immediately after you receive your first referral. This is tied to your Rivian account and should automatically apply to your charging session
- 250+ points for spending in the Rivian gear shop or on a vehicle purchase. Each point is equal to $1 and expires after 2 years from earning date.

As a current R1 S owner, can I refer myself to buy my R2 and get the benefits?
Maybe I have to refer my wife?

You can self-refer yourself for an R1S or T, but there are no referral points for R2 at this time as far as the website says. Also free charging stacks sequentially so if you already have free charging the 3 months is added to the end of the current free charging and so forth.

Points are separate from free charging. Each referral gives you 3 months worth of RAN. Log into your account and look at the rewards tab, expiration date for charging is clearly shown. Points are redeemable for most Gear Shop purchases and vehicle purchases (you can also self-refer, as in use your own referral code). They said once they are working towards allowing points for service, but has yet to implement it.
