And if Tesla bought Rivian, RJ would be fired immediately and the backing of Amazon would certainly be jeopardized, if not terminated. But these things do happen in the business world.

Rivian would be just fine. I fear that with these really high interest (and climbing) rates consumers are going to spend less than ever meaning no fancy toys like EV trucks and SUVs. Once that backlog of R1S’s runs out it will be like the R1T with vehicles able to be delivered within a couple weeks. Demand is dwindling Tesla and their control on the market and supply chains would have solidified their EV conquest had they bought Rivian imo. Will never happen though Elon’s ego is too high.
