Thanks for the extra photo from an angle. That helps show the color/finish a bit better, I think!
The matte doesn't reflect light as well so it's harder to see the similarity when comparing it in the cabin.

How stable is the material to UV and heat? Done any tests? I almost never use my camp speaker. And while cleaning interior the other day, noticed a light pale coat on all soft touch silicone surfaces.

@UnsungZero_OldTimeAdMan

The supplier of the material has used this same silicone in vehicle products for a decade. They have stated it should last in both direct light and hot environments.

I was curious about how well it would dissipate heat. I used a heat gun on one side of the silicone and the other was lukewarm to the touch.

Again, only so much we can do in the short run, but having a single piece of silicone (which is used in vehicles all around the world) as both the topper and bowl make thermal expansion less of a factor as it was previously with the wood and plastic.

Mind you: We still have a plastic base underneath as the frame for the silicone as well as the housing for the pucks and step down charger for gen1. In gen2 it will handle the NFC reader, OEM charger, and qi2 pucks. More on gen2 when I get my production run in hand.

Also the silicone is removable so you can wash it or coat it with any protection sprays you may have.

Thanks. Planning on upgrading from my 3D printed version.

Question from a new owner. How does this work with androids? I know apple has magsafe so that holds it place with this mat. Without the ridge from Gen2 and magsafe, how do androids stay in place while driving?

You need a Qi2 phone or compatible case, which will have magnets to keep alignment to magnets in the Qi2 charging pucks you choose to use. Otherwise, it’s completely down to grip of the silicone mat (said to be grippier than the factory mat in prior post).

Yup. What unsung said. We are going with Qi2 chargers which are the new open standard going forward for all phones.

Ah that's a bummer! I'm one of those sickos that has and android AND doesn't like cases. I was planning on ordering as soon as they became available but will hold off for now.

Would be cool if you were able to include/sell an adhesive "ridge" for folks in a similar boat.

It still will work. And honestly probably better.
