Saw Three R1T's in Bend today! (maybe)

While on my road bike ride today I saw 3 R1T's! Well, actually, it could've been 3 or 2 or 1! They were all LG and I saw a MTB in the back, twice. I couldn't see what was in the truck bed of the first one I saw, since I was in the roundabout and they were waiting to enter it. The truck never passed me, so they must've gone a different direction. Still, only the third time I've seen them here on local roads.

I finally saw one on the road today (outside of Normal, saw a bunch on the road in Normal). It was a midnight R1T here in Tigard about 4-5 blocks from my house. I was too excite to wave, I could only honk my horn (I was in my truck at the time, they other folks waved).

I feel your excitement. I saw my first in Newberg going the opposite direction. All I could do was honk. 2 weeks ago I saw 1 in Shoreline WA. as I was leaving my son's house. I'm going to see another this Saturday in Vancouver when I do my 1st mile drive. Seems the state of Oregon won't let Rivian conduct test drives here now.

So I know of two for sure. An LG and an El Cap. And with luck my El Cap arrives June 8th so we’ll get that Bend number to 3!

Here is the email that I received from Rivian after I asked why my 1st drive on May 11 was cancelled:

Hi Bruce,

Thanks for reaching out to us, and I sincerely apologize for the delayed response to your email. With the recent updates we emailed to our community, the Rivian Customer Engagement Center has been working around the clock to address our community's questions, concerns, and feedback.

We unfortunately had to cancel your appointment for a First Mile Mobile Drive in Portland today, May 11 at 8:00 AM late last month. We are working with the State to finalize some terms and conditions for the drive. We’ve put your name on a priority list so that the moment Portland drives are available again, you’ll be contacted as possible. You can expect to hear from us to reschedule your appointment within a couple weeks. I sincerely apologize for any inconvenience that this may cause.

As part of our commitment to being transparent with our community, we will communicate with you frequently to keep you updated. You're more than welcome to reach out to us again anytime. Thanks again, and have a great rest of your week!

It was as good as I expected, and I had high expectations. The test truck matched my configuration almost exactly. LA Silver, Black Mountain interior, 20" wheels, not the black version. It didn't have the cross bars and I don't know if it had the off-road package or not. I forgot to ask. The powered tonneau worked correctly.

Took my daughter and SIL with me. They were very impressed as well. If the R2 is about the size of the Honda CRV, they'd be buyers.

Now I'm even more excited about getting my own.

I see the same LE Green one all over town, consistently at Bachelor and Junpier. I have also seen a Rivian Blue tooling around NWX. I think we definitely have multiple in town at this point but is impossible to tell who is local and a weekend guest.

Definitely a fun drive. The Rivian rep was very nice and very enthusiastic. It was a LA Silver with 20” AT tires. Similar to my setup except for color. Mostly drove on the freeway because I wanted to take it to my house and pick up the wife for a drive. Its a fair bit quieter at speed compared to my Model Y. That made me happy. Wife loved it, which is good.
