Scheduled an appointment on July 23rd at the new Blauvelt SC and promptly dropped off. Apparently there has been such a backlog for a brand new location (I believe it opened late June) that they only started working on mine today. What is the point of having an appointment, so the car can sit in a parking lot while I run up the Enterprise rental charges?

I’m going to assume this is somewhat of a rhetorical question. On my first service visit the vehicle sat on the lot for four weeks before anyone looked at it. It completely drained the battery twice.. At least they give you nice loaner cars.

So they don't need to wait on You when they're ready to work on it.

While I fully agree the service wait time are too long, I would be more annoyed if they cancelled an appointment that was scheduled weeks (or months) in advance on short notice. My closest service centers right now are Brooklyn or Gaithersburg (2.5 hours each way), or temporary Trenton (1.5 hours each way). The service centers are far enough from me where I have used vacation time from work to drop off or pick up my truck, time that must be scheduled in weeks in advance at my job. My most recent service was 13 days to replace my tonneau cover, which probably takes less than a day (just guessing on my part).

As @Riviot said, having a parking lot full of jobs to work on keeps them active. But I do agree, they must be getting much rates better than we do from Enterprise. When my neighbors see a rental in my parking lot for 2 weeks, it does not give them warm fuzzy feelings about buying a Rivian in the future (at least near term). When I have a rental for 2 weeks, repeatedly, it does not give me warm fuzzy feelings about having a Rivian long term.

I also had to take a PTO to go into the service center. My gripe is the same here, which is having the car at the SC lot for a week before it actually being looked at. If SC had called and said they are backed up for a few days, would you want to drop off a little later, I might have jumped on that. I'd rather have the car sitting in my own garage. In my case, they found an issue with the drive unit and had to order the part, so now more time waiting. It just seems the whole process could be streamlined in a more efficient way, but I've never worked at a mechanics shop.
