I thought about getting a "Friends don't let friends buy an MB" bumper sticker to put on my Sprinter Van.

What's funny is its been more reliable than my Rivian, but my god is the maintenance cost insane. You basically have to do it all yourself or you get gouged. Maybe its a secret way to flaunt your wealth.

It's also not exactly what I would call rugged like I would expect. With a fleet vehicle I'd expect it to be pretty bullet proof. But, if you have one issue on the CAN bus the whole thing is dead. I had to walk to a Automotive parts store to get what I needed to fix it to get the darn thing to start. All it took for it to be dead was someone bumping into the back and breaking the tail light.

I haven't really thought about anything for the Rivian due to the contrast between the love and hate.

To me the Sprinter Van is a 4x4 Toilet. That's what I love about it. It's entire existence in my life is due to my GF's need to drink water and to pee. Not in what I would consider an average amount but in an excessive amount. I figure she is 3-4x times above average and any attempt at questioning it is "invalidating her needs"

The Rivians existence is because of my needs. Everything about it is the validation of my needs.

Sure its absolutely by far the most problematic vehicle I've ever owned.

• The passive entry system hates me
• The Navigation despises me
• Apple Music laughs at my ears
• The 12VDC battery gives me nightmares despite never having the issue myself. It's an omnipresent threat.
• Service is an exercise in patience and calmness. Like I might have to do hot yoga before a service appointment to bring me into "hipster compliance mode"
• Weird anomalies come out and go and I shrug
• Every time a stranger asks me about my car I say it's great because its too complicated of a story, and I don't have time for that.

But, despite all those things it fits my needs. Its the very definition of a vehicle that fits a lifestyle. Like minivans are fun to make fun of but there is no denying they serve a purpose.

There is a lot of things I wish it was.

• Cheaper
• Simpler in terms of complexity
• Easier to fix
• More reliable
• Quieter

Hopefully those things will come but for now it works. It's really not bad for the dumbest of all realities to exist in.

It's paid off so I'll drive it till it don't go no more.

This has me thinking (which is rare). If it's moving, it contradicts the graffiti. Also, someone like Bansky could have written that and taken the photo without the owner knowing. Lots of people vandalizing Teslas these days. Maybe they are expanding out to other EVs? I believe in free speech as long as it doesn't affect me.

The exception being a CyberTruck.

There should be an executive order not only legalizing paint based vandalizing of a CyberTruck, but encouraging it.

The law would recognize the vehicles one true purpose to humanity: That purpose is a rolling canvas for art. Every day that a CyberTruck owner comes out to his Canvas is a new day with a new message to send out to the world.

You shouldn't even be allowed to buy one. They should be gifted to the willing few. Or maybe they should have to buy a VW Buzz in a bright color to even be eligible to get a Cybertruck. A way of balancing Yin and Yang.

Instead we live in a reality where the Cybertruck is okay, but a VW Buzz ran afoul of the regulations because the designers recognized that Americans were wide body so they made the seats widebody.

I hope you're joking. People should be able to do what they want with their money. If someone wants to buy a CT or any other car, they should be able to do that. I dont own a Tesla but it's a good car.

I'm not saying they can't buy it, but just if I was King I'd use my power for good.

On a more serious note I think having solid safety standards would eliminate much of what I despise about the CyberTruck.

I think they'll fix a lot of issues with a revamp.

I think they will discontinue it because it's a total flop (and try to repurpose salvage as much of it for another large sized project, like robo cargo van). And the wankers who actually love and own a CT will rejoice over speculation of future collector car status. And, from that, TSLA share price will skyrocket all the way to mars. /s

Around the same time I took delivery of my T, my friend took delivery of his second Sprinter (new this time). He paid a couple grand less than what I paid for my Quad. It's crazy how expensive the Sprinter is for a stripped down cargo van. Some people in this forum moan endlessly about how a car as expensive as the R1 should have a better audio system. They should spend some time with the Sprinter's and experience a perspective shift. Expensive maintenance? It is still a Mercedes.
